Our commitment

Beatlesongs.wiki should be usable by everyone, including people who navigate with a keyboard, a screen reader, or assistive technology. We aim to meet the spirit of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, and we treat accessibility as an ongoing effort rather than a box we tick once.

What we do

• Semantic HTML with proper headings, landmarks, and lists so the page structure is clear to a screen reader.
• Full keyboard navigation, with a visible focus outline on links, buttons, and form fields.
• Accessible names on every interactive control – icon-only buttons and toggles carry an aria-label or visually-hidden text, never a blank announcement.
• Colour is never the only signal; we check text and interface contrast against the WCAG AA thresholds in both light and dark themes.
• Decorative motion is gated behind prefers-reduced-motion, so animations calm down when your system asks them to.
• A responsive layout that reflows to phones and tablets without horizontal scrolling, with controls sized for touch.

Known limitations

Some of the site's data visualisations – the interactive charts, the tag network, and other graphs under Insights – are inherently visual and can be hard to explore with a screen reader. Where we can, the same information is also available as a sortable table or a plain song list on the related tag, album, year, and member pages. We are working to close the remaining gaps.

Tips

You can browse the whole catalogue as text: every tag, album, year, and person has its own page with a straightforward song table, and the glossary lists every tag A–Z. Your browser's zoom and reader modes work throughout the site.
