Tamboura

Long-necked Indian drone instrument.

songs
The tamboura arrives in 1966 and is last heard in 1970, seven recordings in all. More of the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album has it than any other album, three of its twelve tracks. 'Tomorrow Never Knows' is the earliest, from 1966, and 'Across the Universe' the last, from 1970. Two of them are 'Love You To' (continuous drone on C) and 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds'. George Harrison plays it on six of them, with Neil Aspinall on 'Within You Without You'. On 'Tomorrow Never Knows' it is Indian drone instrument under entire track. On 'Across the Universe': sustained drone backing. Among them, 'Getting Better' carries Burns Nu-Sonic as well, which only three of their recordings do.
