Medley

Part of a continuous medley in which several short songs run together without breaks.

11
songs
From 1964 to 1970, it is heard on eleven recordings, and 1969 has more of them than any other year, with eight. The first is 'Kansas City / Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey!' and the last 'You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)'. Two of them are 'A Day in the Life' and 'You Never Give Me Your Money'. Paul sings eight of the eleven and eight of them are on Abbey Road. It goes quiet after 1964 and comes back in 1967 for 'A Day in the Life'. The lead vocal is Paul's on five of the eleven, three for John, and the two of them together on three. All four of them take the lead on 'Carry That Weight'. Neither man reaches for it more than the other, 7% of McCartney's songs and 5% of Lennon's. On 'You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)' it is a fragmentary song built from separate pieces rather than one continuous form. Among them, 'Golden Slumbers' has bass trombone on it, one of only four of their recordings that do.
