Ivor Novello award
The British songwriting award, presented by the Ivors Academy for the year's most performed, best selling or best written songs.
11
songs
It covers eleven of their recordings, from 1963 to 1969, most of their years in the studio. 'She Loves You' is the earliest and 'Something' the last. 'Can't Buy Me Love' and 'Yesterday' have it too, and Paul sings nine of the eleven. Every one of those years has some. Paul owns the singing here, six of the eleven, against one for George, with Ringo on one. McCartney wrote ten of the eleven, such as 'Yellow Submarine' and 'Hey Jude', 11% of his songs against 4% of Harrison's. Of those, 'We Can Work It Out' is in B minor, and only three of their recordings are.
