It turns up on 40 recordings, across almost the whole of the band's recording life, 1963 to 1970. Lennon's 'Do You Want to Know a Secret' came first and Harrison's 'I Me Mine' last, with Rubber Soul leaning on it hardest, five of its fourteen tracks. Paul sings lead on fifteen of them, John on twelve and George on six. All four of them take the lead on 'Carry That Weight'. Three of them share it on 'Because'. It sits on much the same share of each man's songs, 20% of Harrison's and 19% of McCartney's.
