Automatic Double Tracking - tape delay technique creating a doubled vocal without re-recording

From 1965 to 1969, it was used on 28 recordings. It first turns up on 'Dizzy Miss Lizzy', cut 10 May 1965, and was last heard on 'Come Together', with Revolver leaning on it hardest, ten of its fourteen tracks. It turns up most in 1966 and 1967, nineteen of the 28 between them, and only eight come after, the last of them 'Come Together'. Geoff Emerick engineered 22 of them, with Ken Scott on seven. This one is John's to sing, and he takes fifteen of the 28, against seven for Paul, with George on four and Ringo on two. On 'Yer Blues', Lennon's and Harrison's solos were re-cut through it on 14 August 1968, with the oscillator pushed into a hard wobble. On 'Taxman', artificial double tracking developed by Ken Townsend was in use on Revolver sessions.
