Words of Love

1964 · Beatles For Sale

“Words of love you whisper soft and true”

A faithful cover of Buddy Holly's 1957 single, with Lennon and McCartney sharing a doubled close-harmony lead to honour Holly's pioneering double-tracked vocal. Harrison's double-tracked Tennessean figure traces Holly's original guitar line note-for-note – the Beatles' clearest and most affectionate tribute to a formative influence.
